She is currently in training to become a General Movement Assessment Tutor, and will be the first GMA tutor in Africa once her training is completed.  She has completed both her Basic Paediatric (8 week) NDT training, as well as the Advanced NDT Baby course.  She is trained up to Intermediate level in Wheelchair and Seating Service Delivery, and completed her Sensory Integration Theory and Test Mechanics courses.  She completed both the basic and advanced courses in the General Movements Assessment, is trained in the use of the Hammersmith Infant and Neonatal Neurological Examinations and also completed her training in the Neonatal Behaviour Assessment Scale.  She is also starting her training as a Lactation Consultant in 2020.

Lurinda truly believes in the value of early intervention, and has deep respect for the significance of neurodevelopment within the first year of life.  As Program Director at CPAEC she aims to head up projects which uplifts the local community, but which also has a global impact.  She also believes that evidence based practise is very important, and as such, is passionate about research which delivers practical results which can make a real difference in the lives of practitioners and clients alike.

When she is not at work, her other passions include spending time with her husband, daughter and dogs, dolphins, the ocean, Disney princesses and sewing.  Her favourite saying is a quote by late former president Nelson Mandela:  “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
